Embedding fit for purpose culture
Growing FMCG Company
Challenge
This newly formed and rapidly expanding team were tasked with the delivery of a truly pioneering innovation, working under significant pressure and uncertainty. As the team grew in size and complexity, leaders recognised the need to focus on developing the performance, dynamic and culture of the team to help ensure that the ambitious plans were delivered.
Solution
Through a series of highly impactful working sessions at Leander rowing club and Dorney Lakes, the entire team were immersed into the high performance world of the GB Olympic rowing squad, able to experience first-hand the language, principles and behaviours that have been refined through decades of success and achievement on the world stage. The team benefitted from exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the clubhouse, training facilities and athletes, exploring how their high performance eco-system operated - before extracting and applying those insights to their own world, collectively defining their own high performance ‘code’. Opportunities to stress-test this high-performance ‘toolkit’ in rowing boats, supported in real time by experienced coaches, helped to embed new, impactful behaviours and language.
Results
The team's 'code' – a simple set of deliberate practices – helped improve the performance of the organisation by embedding more collectively beneficial behaviours and expectations. Ongoing group and 1:1 coaching helped sustain the behavioural and performance shifts and build the foundations of a high performance culture.
